Jefferson City Council 4_10The Jefferson City Council met Tuesday night in regular session.

The Council approved the final pay estimate to Pinnacle Construction of $65,433 for the Community Development Block Grant Facade Project, along with a $4,000 request for hotel/motel funds for Thomas Jefferson Gardens to staff the Welcome Center additional hours in the summer, waiving a $350 building permit fee for a livestock building on the Greene County Fairgrounds and a $22,000 contract with Region XII Council of Governments to update the City’s comprehensive plan. Additionally, the Council held a public hearing to amend the urban renewal plan. The amendment would add the White House Apartments to utilize Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funds. However, the amendment has to go before the Planning and Zoning Commission before the Council can approve the resolution for it.

During reports, Mayor Craig Berry brought up a concern about the Highway 4 asphalt overlay project with the Iowa Department of Transportation. The DOT is proposing to reduce the curb height from six-inches to three-inches, which could end up creating drainage issues with the City’s storm sewer system. The Council agreed to have Berry send a letter to the district level of the DOT with the concern before the project begins.
