Late afternoon and early evening thunderstorms altered the schedules of Greene County High School sports teams. Coach Marilyn Tasler’s first year girls’ soccer team sat through a 90 minute weather delay before getting their Class 1A regional tournament first round match at Gilbert underway. Once play began, the second ranked Tigers won 10-0 by the 10-goal rule. In both meetings with Gilbert this season, the Rams lost 10-0.  Greene County won three matches in its inaugural girls’ soccer season. Two were by shutout and the other was by forfeit.

Greene County baseball and softball was rained out last night with the Coon Rapids-Bayard teams. No immediate word about making up the non-conference contests. The Rams will try it again tonight with Heart of Iowa Activities Conference opponent Gilbert in Jefferson for baseball and softball. The varsity softball game can be heard around 7:30 p.m. on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
