Jefferson Police BadgeAuthorities are continuing to investigate an alleged stolen motorcycle incident in Jefferson.

According to a report from the Jefferson Police Department, the victim reported his 1979 Harley Davidson Flathead motorcycle was stolen from his home in the 700 block of North Cedar Street Wednesday. Captain Heath Enns tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the victim claimed he knew who stole his motorcycle. The victim was visiting a mutual friend of the suspect, who they believed stole the vehicle. Enns adds that the victim claimed he saw the suspect pass him on Highway 30, on the stolen motorcycle, and then witnessed him lose control and crash it.

The Greene County Sheriff’s office then responded to the crash on the highway, about three miles east of Jefferson. The driver of the motorcycle was identified as 42-year-old Jody Schad of Jefferson. He was taken to Greene County Medical Center with serious injuries. The motorcycle was totaled. Enns says charges against Schad are pending completion of their investigation.
