Perry senior Alyssa Kruger threw a complete game two hit shutout Tuesday night as the Jayettes defeated Greene County 4-0 in non-conference softball action. Kruger retired 18 straight batters after allowing an infield hit to Megan Carey to start the game. She finished with a season high six strikeouts.
The game was scoreless after four innings before Perry was finally able to figure out Greene County’s Samantha Hardaway. Jayna Kenney started the rally with a one out single. Following a Grace Stewart strikeout, Greene County intentionally walked Johanna Diw to put runners at first and second. Sidney Vancil made them pay ripping a two-run double down the left field line scoring Kenney and Diw. Kruger and Gabbie West followed with RBI hits as Perry put up a four spot in the inning.
Vancil and Kenney led the way offensively each finishing with a pair of hits. The Jayettes had 7 hits as a team.
Perry improves to 2-6 while Greene County falls to 2-6. Both teams will be in action tonight with Perry hosting Bondurant Farrar while Greene County takes on North Polk.
