Before taking her talents to Mississippi this fall, Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers 2016 graduate Molly Jacobsen is racking up the postseason accolades for her performance during the 2018 softball season for the Des Moines Area Community College Bears softball team. Fast Pitch News gave Jacobsen her most recent postseason award as the publications National Junior College Athletic Associations Division II Pitcher of the Year. Also, Jacobsen was named the first-ever Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Student-Athlete of the Year award for the 2017-18 school year along with being selected to the 2018 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II All-Tournament team.

Jacobsen, an All-American in 2017, closed the season with a 26-2 record and a 0.47 earned run average. She won her first 25 games and led NJCAA Division II in strikeouts with 312. Jacobsen was second nationally in earned run average and tied for third in wins. She pitched 163.2 innings, allowing 17 runs, 11 of which were earned, on 57 hits. She walked 12 batters and averaged 13.34 strikeouts every seven innings. Jacobsen signed a letter of intent earlier this spring to continue playing softball at the University of Mississippi and the prestigious Southeastern Conference.
