The first Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball victory for the Greene County Rams took place early Monday evening at Allensworth Field in Jefferson. Coach John Hupp’s Rams won 11-1 over South Hamilton (Jewell) in just 4-1/2 innings by the 10-run rule.

Junior Bryce Hoyle picked up his first pitching victory of the season and was on his game as the left hander tossed five innings of three hit ball. He walked just one and recorded six strikeouts. He also picked two runners off first base, both in the second inning.

The Rams played errorless defense, and the offense was clicking right from the start, especially with two outs. Greene County scored two runs in the first inning, five in the second, one in the third and three in the fourth. The first eight runs crossed the plate after there were two outs.

Nick Breon drove in four runs with two singles and a double. Wade Adcock had two doubles, a single, and three runs batted in. Tom Gannon singled, doubled, and had three RBI, Tyler Teeples added three singles, and Brent Riley singled twice and drove in a run. Ben Wilkins singled, walked, and was hit with a pitch, while senior Garrett Swain singled and drove in a run in his first varsity start.

The Rams host Saydel (Des Moines) on Wednesday.
