Greene County and South Hamilton (Jewell) were tied 1-1 through five innings in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference softball in Jefferson on Monday night. The SH offense then exploded for six runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh for a 10-2 victory over the Rams. Coach Tom Kennedy’s team fell to 3-8 overall and 3-3 in the conference.

The Hawks had 12 hits and four errors while the Rams had eight hits and three errors. Taylor Ratzke had a homer and three RBI for SH. The Rams had two hits each from Megan Carey and Laurin Lyons. Lyons drove in a run. Izzy Bravard doubled for the lone Greene County extra base hit. Samantha Hardaway, Lilly Muir, and Faith Davis had the other hits for the Rams.

Hardaway took the pitching loss. She went all seven innings and allowed six earned runs. She walked four and struck out three.
