Perry School Board 6-11

The Perry School Board convened Monday evening for their June regular session.

The meeting started with an update from Larson Engineering about how the Dewey Field renovation project is progressing. Larson Representative Mike Murphy told the Board things are starting to take shape, with the concession structure now up. Before the month is over, they should also have the entryway poured, most of the bleachers in place, and possibly the new press box installed. Following that, Kevin Vidergar, Director of Teaching and Learning, gave an update on how Perry stacks up with current Iowa Assessments, and Superintendent Clark Wicks discussed the Success Room progress.

In general business, the Board approved several resolutions, including: the staff summer hourly rates for the PACES program; a student teaching agreement with Drake University; the transfer of $9,687.15 from the General Fund to the Student Activities Fund for protective sports equipment; continuation of an agreement for sports medicine services with 21st Century Rehab; and a universal preschool 28E agreement. Additionally, the Board approved part two of the “Capturing Kids Hearts” program for the middle and high school, which will cost a total of $22,000, coming from the Teacher Quality Categorical Fund.
