Greene County High School graduated senior Megan Durbin tied with longtime friend and rival Mariah Gorham of North Polk (Alleman) for first place in the girls’ high jump on June 9 at the Senior All-Star Track & Field Meet between Iowa and Wisconsin held at the University of Dubuque. Both Durbin and Gorham are Heart of Iowa Activities Conference athletes who have competed against each other many times over their storied careers, and both cleared 5′ 6″ last Saturday with the exact same number of misses. Iowa won the meet 103-67. Illinois brought very few athletes and scored three points.

Durbin made her name jumping well in big meets. Seven times she jumped at Drake Stadium in Des Moines and never finished lower than second place. She won two Drake Relays titles, one State title, was second at State three times, and second at Drake once. Durbin is headed to Iowa State University to continue her academic and track & field career.

The Iowa Association of Track Coaches and similar organizations from Illinois and Wisconsin have joined together since 1999 to hold such a meet.
