Greene County went 3-3 the past Monday through Saturday in the busiest week by far this baseball season. The Rams played in the Saydel tournament on Saturday, losing in the opening round to Class 2A top 10 ranked Van Meter by a 6-1 final, then romped 14-0 in 4-1/2 innings over Clarke (Osceola). Overall, Greene County is 6-7 on the season.

Bryce Hoyle took the hill vs. VM. He pitched well in taking the loss. Hoyle, a left hander, went 5-2/3 innings, allowing four runs, three earned, to go with five hits and two walks. He fanned seven Bulldogs. Branden Hoyle, Bryce’s younger brother, threw one frame and gave up three hits, two runs, one earned run, on three hits and four walks. He had one strikeout. Nick Breon recorded one out on no hits, walks, or strikeouts.

The game with VM was tied 1-1 until a three run sixth. The Bulldogs added two more seventh inning runs. Isaac Ireland had an RBI single. Bryce Hoyle singled twice with one base hit each for Jordan Patterson, Breon and Brent Riley

Riley tossed a five inning shut out vs. Clarke with just three hits allowed. Riley fanned five and walked two. A season high in runs came with a season high 14 players getting an at bat. The Rams had 11 hits with a triple by Tom Gannon and a double from Wade Adcock. Gannon drove in two runs, as did Adcock. David Richter, Garrett Swain, and Austin Delp each had a single and two RBI. Breon had two hits. Kyle Peters had a single one one run batted in.
