Grand Junction Fire DepartmentA Wednesday morning fire destroyed a home in Grand Junction.

According to information from the Greene County Sheriff’s office, deputies, along with Grand Junction Fire and Rescue, the Jefferson Fire Department and Greene County Emergency Medical Services responded to the call of a house fire around 9:30am. The fire was in the 800 block of 11th Street North in Grand Junction.

Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio when they arrived on scene, the one-story home was fully engulfed in flames. Williams says the family of three were able to get out of the home safely. He adds that the child reportedly noticed the fire and woke up his mom. The home was a total loss.

Williams believes the fire started on the north end of the home, however he says the home was so badly burned that they won’t be able to determine a cause of the accidental fire. Red Cross was called in to assist the family. One firefighter was transported to Greene County Medical Center for heat exhaustion, but no one was hurt in the incident.
