The Perry softball team added to Des Moines North’s long summer of 2018 by beating the Polar Bears 18-1 in non conference softball Tuesday night. The Jayettes scored ten runs in the first inning and finished off the Bears with eight more in the second. Alyssa Kruger delivered a 2-run double while Johanna Diw added a pair of RBI’s as well. Every single Jayette scored at least one run in the two innings. Kruger picked up the win inside the circle allowing one earned run on two hits. Perry took advantage of nine walks and five hit batters.
The Jayettes improve to 10-17 on the season while Des Moines North falls to 0-15. The run scored by the Polar Bears was their first run scored of the season. The program was searching for its first softball victory since early in June of 2015 at the Martensdale St Mary’s tournament.
Perry will travel to Bondurant tonight for a conference doubleheader with the Lady Jays. First game begins at 5:30.
