Perry had Ballard on the ropes for five innings but the 13th ranked Bombers found a way late to rally and beat Perry 10-6 in Raccoon River Conference softball. The Jayettes took advantage of three walks and an error in the first inning to plate three runs. They added two more in the 3rd on RBI hits from Adrianna Eastman and Peyton Tunick to jump out to a 5-1 lead. Ballard started their comeback in the fourth inning on a Karlee Ahrenholz squeeze bunt scoring speedster Bella Johnson. The Bombers kept the foot on the gas in the 5th inning tying the game off four consecutive hits. Isabell Hobbs delivered a 2-run double while Maggie Larson added a RBI single. Tied at five all in the 7th, Ballard sent 10 batters to the plate and scored five runs off starter Alyssa Kruger. Two 2-out, 2-run doubles proved to be costly for Perry as Matty Beerbower and Molly Houge ripped opposite field doubles completing the comeback for the Bombers.
Peyton Tunick led the way for Perry finishing with two hits and a career high 3 RBI’s. Adrianna Eastman reached base all four times with two singles and two walks. Jayna Kenney added a pair of singles as well. Kruger reached three times with two walks and a single.
Perry falls to 10-20 and 1-12 while Ballard improves to 19-14 and 7-4.
The Jayettes host 6th ranked Winterset Tuesday night at the PAC.
