yaleAn annual summer tradition is once again taking place in Yale this week. The annual Fourth of July celebration kicks off tomorrow night and includes plenty of events for the whole family all day on Wednesday.

The celebration begins tomorrow with the 4th annual “3 on the 3rd” Fun Run/Walk at 6pm. Both the regular 5k and kids race for those 12 and under will start and finish at the Yale City Park.

Wednesday’s festivities begin with the bicycle poker run from 7-9am along the Raccoon River Valley Trail. The omelet breakfast runs from 8-10am at the Yale Community Building and the parade starts at 11. Activities in the afternoon include: the car and tractor show, kids activities, tractor pulls, and the horseshoe tournament. A pork loin sandwich lunch will also be served by the Yale Community Club at the Yale Community Building starting at noon.

The day concludes with raffle ticket prize drawings at 8:30pm and the fireworks at 9:45, both at the ball field. Handicap parking is available on the North side of Farmers State Bank and unlicensed vehicles such as Go Karts and All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) will not be permitted on city streets.
