Two free swimming lesson sections were recently completed at the Jefferson Municipal Pool and there are several other opportunities coming up for those wanting to learn how to swim.

Home State Bank continued their sponsorship of 50 free swimming lessons during the week of June 18th through the 22nd, while Farmer’s Mutual Insurance also provided 50 free swimming lessons during the week of June 25th through the 29th. Jefferson Parks and Recreation Director Vicky Lautner says another opportunity is next week from July 9th through the 13th for Jefferson area residents. Classes will be held from 10 to 10:50am, with a $20 per level, per person fee.

There will also be Paton-Churdan, Scranton and Jefferson area swimming lessons held from 10 to 10:50am on July 16th through the 20th, also for a $20 charge per level, per person. Finally, evening swimming lessons will be done on July 23rd through the 27th from 5:30 to 6:15pm for a $20 fee. With space limited at each swim level, Lautner explains why that stipulation is in place.

“We are offering six levels instead of five. For level one, we’ll limit it to ten people. That way we will be able to have instructors there and be able to handle the class.”
