Expectations are high for the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn softball team, as they head into the State Tournament as the number one seed.

Coming on the heels of a 33-7 record that culminated in an 8-1 victory over Norwalk Tuesday night in the regional championship game, the Tigers found themselves atop the Class 4A bracket. Their opponent for the first round is a familiar one, as they will take on a fellow Dallas County area school in eighth-seeded Dallas Center-Grimes. DCG finished the season with an 18-22 record, and advanced to State by defeating Pella 6-5 in the regional final on Tuesday. The Tigers and Fillies faced each other on June 6th in Adel, with ADM winning 11-5. They will now face off once again at a neutral site, on Tuesday, July 17th at 1 p.m. at the Buena Vista University Field in Fort Dodge.

This is the first time since 2008 that the ADM softball team will compete at State. DCG last played in the tournament in 2015, when they won the last of their three consecutive State Championships. Be sure to listen to live coverage of the game starting Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. on 107.9 KKRF, on our mobile app KKRF1, or online at RaccoonValleyRadio.com.
