Luther Hall of Fame Coach Paul Hefty has been in Perry helping the Bluejay staff in preparation for the upcoming season.

Perry football might take a page out of the Penn State playbook when the season opens August 25th at the renovated Dewey Field. Luther Hall of Famer Paul Hefty has spent some time recently with the Perry coaching staff showing them some different offensive concepts and schemes that he is familiar with dating back to his days at Luther and most recently, his frequent interactions with the Penn State football staff.
“Paul is very knowledgeable in a number of football concepts and he shared with us some ideas that Penn State offensive coordinator Joe Moorehead was running for NFL first round draft pick Sayquon Barkley,” stated Perry Head Coach Matt Hardy.
Hefty left Luther after six strong years to pursue educational opportunities which took him to his current job in Happy Valley as part of the Penn State faculty. His position has allowed him to build relationships with the Penn State staff, in particular Moorehead. Hardy would certainly be happy to get Barkley type numbers from his Perry running backs this fall.
“Yeah, that would be pretty great, I just know we appreciate Paul making the time to come chat with us and show us some different looks offensively.”
Monday, Raccoon Valley Radio sports will share how Perry has been able to connect to Hefty and why he shares a soft spot for the football program at the 3A school.
