We continue a look back at Greene County High School sports during the 2017-18 sports year.

Mitch Moore had never been a head football coach until last year. The first year head man and the Rams had a mostly bumpy ride playing one of Class 3A’s toughest schedules. The Rams had just one win against eight losses, but what a win it was! Greene County rolled up 609 yards of total offense en route to a 61-21 road victory at Iowa Falls-Alden. Sophomore running back Colby Kafer ran for 285 yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries, and junior receiver Trey Hinote had 10 catches for another 118 yards and one TD. The Rams actually trailed by 14 points on two different occasions before unleashing the offense explosion. The win was the first as a head coach for Coach Moore.

The 2018 and ’19 Greene County football teams will play in Class 2A instead of 3A. Official practice for the upcoming season begins on Monday, August 6.
