Libraries RockThe Jefferson Library Teen Summer Reading Program wrapped up earlier this week.

Teens in 6th through 12th grades met six Thursday afternoons at the library this summer and a final party was held after the library closed this past Thursday. Library Director Jane Millard says 18 teens registered for the program and eight completed it. The theme was “Libraries Rock!” and participants did a variety of activities including decorating rocks and leaving them for veterans on a field trip to the Greene County Freedom Rock, wrote stories about rocks, learned about rock music and geology as well.

The party included games like a scavenger hunt throughout the library while also eating pizza and rocky road ice cream. The teens read a total of 167 books and completed 215 activities. The top reader was Gracie Davis, who read 71 books and the Grand Prize winner was Emma Acton, who won $50 in Greene County Chamber and Tourism Bucks.
