The review of the Greene County High School sports year 2017-18 continues with a look at golf. Rachael Danielson became the first female individual golfer in the more than 55 year history of the Jefferson-based program to qualify for three State Tournaments. Danielson, a 2018 senior, qualified for the 2A State Tournament after taking part in 3A State Meets as a sophomore and junior. She has had multiple knee surgeries and missed some regular season meets, according to Coach Heath Telleen, due to pain and swelling in that knee. Danielson played the first 18 holes at the State Meet last Spring, but withdrew after day one due to the issue with the knee. She was also an all-conference golfer in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference, where she placed second. Sophomore Ellie Madson also was all-conference after placing sixth in the conference meet. The Greene County team was second at the HOIAC tourney.

On the boys’ side, the Rams were led by the Block brothers, Elijah and Jadon, both of whom were all-conference. The team finished in fourth place at conference. Elijah became the Rams first district qualifier in recent seasons, advancing out of the sectional tournament. Dave Destival retired from teaching and coaching golf following the season.
