A change in head coaches has brought a renewed interested in the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers football program this fall. We won’t know the total number of high school kids officially out for football at ADM until later this week but the staff estimates at least 20 more kids freshman through senior will enter fall practice in pads today compared to this time last year. Last season, the Tigers had 50 kids ninth through 12th grade out for high school football. First-year head football coach Garrison Carter credits the recruiting work done by assistant coach Nolan Gitch as a reason for the significant increase in numbers. “He was our boots on the ground (coach) while I was in Washington until the school year ended as far as recruiting kids and getting them excited about playing football,” Carter said, “Another guy you have to have apart of this program and has been all in with (the process).”

Gitch is another holdover from Mike Whisner’s staff from last year and will coach the Tigers varsity wide receivers. Carter told Raccoon Valley Radio during a conversation on July 25 that ADM Football was hoping to encourage 90 high school kids to come out for football but has about 78 projected to start official practice this afternoon.
