Wednesday proved to be a busy day for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, as they had to contend with two separate high-speed chases.
The first happened at around 10:42 a.m., as a deputy attempted to stop a motorcycle on Alice’s Road in Waukee. The driver sped off and led officers on a short chase. The driver was identified as 23-year-old Ali Al Hakeem of West Des Moines. Al Hakeem was located at his residence on Vista Drive, and was arrested without further incident on misdemeanor charges for interference with official acts and eluding. He was also issued several citations, including: speeding, unlawful passing, motorcycle permit violation, no insurance, and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. He was booked into the Dallas County Jail and has since been released.
The second incident took place at around 8:42 p.m., as a deputy tried to pull over a vehicle in the 18000 block of J Avenue, south of Highway 44. The driver was identified as 22-year-old Adrian Harvey of Perry, and after a 12-mile chase, he was apprehended without further incident behind a residence on 190th Street. He was charged with a misdemeanor for eluding, and also cited for speeding. He was taken to the Dallas County Jail and was released after posting a $2,333 bond.
