Five incoming seniors are returning for West Central Valley volleyball team this fall, including one that always wanted to be in the gym. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network welcomed Wildcat head volleyball coach John Jones to the Guthrie County PM Sports Page Monday evening to discuss preseason topics ahead of the 2018 season. When talking about seniors who’ve shown early leadership qualities, Jones pointed to Madison Waddell as an example. “(Madison) Waddell would always pester me, ‘coach, when can I get into the gym.'” Jones said, “She wants to play all around (the court), and she’s smart when it comes to knowing where the ball its going to be.”

Jones added Waddell, and Abby Speichenger turned themselves into the go-to players over the summer for West Central Valley volleyball. Waddell ended last season with a team-best 54 kills. She also recorded 16 digs, 11 aces, and seven blocks. The first match of the 2018 season for West Central Valley is on Tuesday, August 21, hosting Guthrie County rival AC/GC in a West Central Activities Conference contest.
