national weather serviceThe Raccoon Valley Radio listening area could see some severe weather this afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service has placed Greene County in the “Marginal” category while Guthrie, Dallas, and Adair counties have been placed in the “Thunder” category.

The main threat with these storms is damaging winds. Large hail is also possible as well as isolated tornadoes. The Greatest chances for severe weather will be north of Highway 18. Torrential rainfall is possible, though flooding concerns are minimal. The severe threat will be greatest between 3-10pm. Storms will likely be traveling in excess of 50 mph and will also likely be short in duration.
