Greene County Sheriff

An early Tuesday morning crash resulted in a portion of Highway 30 being closed and the driver of a semi being cited in Greene County.

Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams says just before 4am, he and his deputies, along with the Jefferson Fire and Police departments and the Greene County Emergency Medical Services, responded to a semi-tractor trailer crash on Highway 30, just west of Highway 4. According to a press release, 56-year-old Terry Smith of Lake View was traveling east on the highway when he lost control of a 2004 Peterbilt semi-tractor trailer, that was hauling scrap metal, and slid it onto its side and dumped scrap metal onto the roadway. Smith was taken to Greene County Medical Center by Greene County EMS with possible injuries. Smith was cited for failure to maintain control.

As of 11:30am, both lanes of the highway were back open to traffic.
