Forest Park Museum and Arboretum

The Forest Park Museum and Arboretum is full of countless items that are displayed in various exhibits. You may not know this, but there’s just as many things that aren’t out for the public to view.

This coming Sunday, Dallas County Conservation is inviting people to see those very items, as they are hosting an event they’re calling, “What’s in the Back Room of the Museum?” Museum Curator Pete Malmberg says it will be a fun look at some things you would never have imagined were housed at Forest Park. Items include original albums by an eccentric jazz musician who thought he was from another planet, writings by science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke, and even tracks by legendary musician Paul Simon from before he was famous.

Malmberg is excited to show people everything the museum has in its collection. “People are always curious, ‘What’s in the back room of museums?’ Well, we’re no exception, we’ve got some very unusual things. Some other eccentric things too, so I’ll bring those out and let people see them all and give a little tour. That’s going to be during one of our open afternoons, so just come in that afternoon and see me, and I’ll give you a nice behind the scenes tour!”

The event will be held on Sunday, September 9th at 1 p.m., and it’s free and open to the public. To learn more about this and other upcoming events with Dallas County Conservation, listen to today’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program on air and at RaccoonValleyRadio.com.
