Guthrie Center SignWhile Scoop the Loop has come and gone in Stuart, Guthrie County still has plenty of cars to put on display. The 4th annual Guthrie’s Rockin’ Retro Rod and Custom Car Show will fill the streets of downtown Guthrie Center from 8am-3pm tomorrow. Registration runs from 8am-noon with the show from noon-3pm.

A total of 21 specialty awards will be given out as well as prizes for the top three overall. There will also be food and other specialty vendors available, a 50/50 raffle, and door prizes. The show is free and open to the public.

Just down the street from the main display, the United Methodist Church of Guthrie Center will be hosting a quilt show and fundraiser from 10am-3pm. Event coordinator Pat Sleister talks about the idea behind the show. “Well it all started with the car show that is going to be in Guthrie Center that day and we thought, ‘Well if the guys have something to do, their wives might like to have something to do too.’”

Sleister says there are quilts of every variety that will be on display. A soup luncheon will also be available for a free-will offering from 11am-1pm. All proceeds go back to the church to help update their sanctuary. To hear more from Sleister, listen to today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
