The high school music scene is off and running with marching band competitions and All-State preparations across the state. Middle and high school students at West Central Valley have already gotten a chance to let their voices be heard at an area festival. Fourteen male students were part of the over 300 that attended the “All Men Sing” festival at Atlantic Middle School earlier this month.

Iowa Western Community College Director of Choral Studies Luke Johnson was the guest conductor. The choir performed three pieces, including: “Three Latin Songs” by Laura Farneil, “Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence” by Craig Courtney, and “I Love the Mountains” arranged by Ryan Main.

IWCC’s men’s chorus also performed two selections for the students. At the end of the festival, audio engineers from the college recorded the final product and distributed the recordings to choir teachers who attended the festival.
