The finale of a three-match conference home stand saw the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers varsity volleyball team return to winning form Tuesday night. The Tigers welcomed the Boone Toreadors to Adel for their annual Raccoon River Conference contest. ADM, who dropped five-set matches to Winterset and Carlisle last week, defeated the Toreadors in four games (25-20, 20-25, 25-17, 25-22). Senior Briann Powers spoke with the Raccoon Valley Radio Network after the match about the tweaks the Tigers have been working on in practice. “We’ve been working really hard on our defense,” Powers said, “We’re also working on trying to work on being mentally strong too because in those fifth sets, we do get down a lot (on ourselves) and it’s hard to get back up.”

Junior Josi Lonneman posted a double-double for ADM with a team-high 18 kills and 22 digs. Junior Abbie Hlas recorded a team-best 24 digs. Junior Delaney Bertman smashed eight kills, sophomore AJ Smith recorded six while senior Jordyn Crow, and Powers registered five kills a piece. The victory improves ADM’s overall record to 9-12 and evens their conference mark at 3-3. The Tiger varsity volleyball team resumes their season tomorrow night, traveling to Grimes for a nonconference match versus the Dallas Center-Grimes Fillies.
