The 2018 Saydel Eagle Cross-Country Invitational was held Thursday on school grounds. Greene County took part with the girls finishing fourth among six teams and the boys were tenth in an 11 team field.

The girls’ team title went to Ballard (Huxley) with 27 points. North Polk (Alleman) had 31, with 99 for Perry, 122 by the Rams, 131 from Woodward-Granger, and 153 by Boone.

Des Moines Christian was the boys’ winner with 51 points and Ballard was second with 64. Des Moines Lincoln had 65, followed by NP 128, Saydel 135, W-G 181, Perry 182, Boone 188, West Central Valley 216, Greene County 234, and Ankeny Christian 308.

The Greene County girls were led by a 27th place finish from Conner Allender in 23:12.80 for the five kilometers (3.1 miles). Makala Kafer was 29th in 23:21.98, followed by Kassie Lamoureux, 34th in 23:38.47, Izzy Bravard, 53rd in 25:47.80, and Tieryn Tucker 67th in 26:59.23.

Logan Woodruff was 33rd to lead the Greene County boys in 19:03.86. Connor Brus was 37th in 19:25.15, with Jack Bryson 51st in 20:04.10, Luis Velazco, 54th in 20:17.66, and Ethan Larsen, 62nd in 20:48.19.

Greene County is scheduled to host the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference meet on Monday, Oct. 8 at Spring Lake State Park northwest of Grand Junction.
