There’s been a rash of inclement weather the past few weeks, and as a result the progress of construction on the new Dallas County Law Enforcement Center has been delayed.

At a recent Board of Supervisors meeting, a representative for construction manager the Samuels Group gave an update on the progress of the facility. He said the contractors at the site haven’t been able to do much recently because of the muddy conditions. In particular, the crane work had to be put on hold until the machinery could get a good foothold. Unfortunately, the Samuels Group said the completion date has been pushed back by several months to accommodate the revised construction schedule. As recently as two weeks ago, they expected the facility to be ready to move in by late June of 2019, but now it may not be until early October.

The Samuels Group is hopeful if they get a good stretch of dry, temperate weather, the contractors will be able to get a lot done before the first snowfall. On the financial side of the project, they reported that there is still around $675,000 in contingency funds, which is used for any unforeseen issue or change order. The Samuels Group say that’s a good place for the funds to be, and as of now the center is still well under budget. They also presented the eighth pay application, which included payments to 12 different contractors in the amount of $1,747,119.95. The Supervisors approved the application as presented.
