Voter Fraud

Election Day has passed and while Guthrie County saw a decreased turnout from the 2016 election, there was an influx compared to the previous midterm.

As of November 1st this year Guthrie County had 7,921 registered voters, and in this year’s election the results showed that 63.7% of them voted with 5,044 ballots cast. Of that total 1,804 of them voted absentee. Of those ballots, 63 of them did not vote for the U.S. Representative District 3 race, and 20 ballots did not vote for the governor race.

In the 2014 midterm there were 7,928 voters registered as of November 3rd and 55.5% of them voted with 4,403 ballots cast and 1,664 voted absentee. In the 2016 election 8,088 voters were registered as of November 1st and 71.9% of them voted with 5,816 ballots cast and 2,071 voted absentee. The auditor’s office is still accepting mailed absentee ballots, as long as they were postmarked on November 5th and are received by November 12th. Election results are unofficial until a canvassing from the Board of Supervisors next week.
