Brando Burgos

A Perry teenager was arrested Sunday evening following a brief chase with police officers.

According to the Perry Police Department, 19-year-old Brando Burgos was arrested for second degree theft, a class D felony, and a misdemeanor charge of eluding. At just after noon on Sunday, dispatch received a call from an individual who said their son had no license and had left in their car. A few hours later, they received a call from the suspect’s sibling who reported Burgos driving northbound on Highway 144, though officers were unable to locate the vehicle. The family officially filed a stolen car report at 4 p.m., and by 5:30 it was located.

After a brief pursuit, Burgos was taken into custody. In addition to the new charges, he was also arrested on a warrant from Dallas County for failure to appear in court, for charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct. He was transported to Dallas County Jail. Additionally, Burgos is scheduled to be sentenced this Friday for unrelated incidents from earlier this year, including misdemeanor charges for a controlled substance violation and possession of marijuana, first offense.
