Perry Police Memorial

The 100+ People for Perry organization met for their fourth and final donation meeting of 2018, and on this occasion chose to support the Perry Police Association.

The meeting began with reports on previous donations from the Perry Alano Club and Art on the Prairie. After that, members of the group presented two projects for consideration of what would be a $7,600 donation. First there was a presentation on the Perry Police Association and their officer memorial project, which was right around $8,000 short of its funding goal. Next, a member presented on the Perry School District’s Milk Program at the elementary. Each presenter had five minutes to talk, followed by a brief question and answer session. After that, the members voted on which of the two projects they wanted to support, with the majority ultimately choosing the police memorial.

The members then each wrote a $100 check to be donated to the Police Association. Organizer Tom Lipovac said the group currently has 76 members, so if each turns in their check in time, the total donation will be $7,600. Lipovac added, this donation makes over $80,000 donated in 12 total meetings since the group’s founding. The next meeting will be held on February 25, 2019 in the Cellar at La Poste. The goal of 100+ People for Perry is to provide four large donations a year, with all the proceeds going toward one project that benefits the residents of Perry.
