The Panorama School Board convened in regular session Monday.

The meeting began with the Board accepting Business Manager Dominique Bryant’s resignation effective December 31st. Librarian Joan Fredrickson then gave a demonstration of the District’s Google Expeditions goggles they recently purchased with a Guthrie County Community Foundation grant.

Next, the Board discussed the band and choir requirement for the middle school. Currently, only the 6th grade students are required to be in band or choir and vocal music director Chris Helm and band director Jim Bauch proposed making band or choir a requirement for all middle school students, in the hopes of having better retention of students participating in music in high school. No action was taken on the topic as the teachers were advised to come up with a third music education option for those not interested in band or choir. The Board also discussed keeping their early retirement incentive policy as is, which will then be brought back for the Board’s approval in January. Finally, the Board approved the 2019 potential graduates list. They approved a second reading of policies regarding the District Emergency Operations Plan, Student Expression, and Student Progress Reports and Conferences. The Board also approved a purchase of $5,350 for a floor scrubber from Capital Sanitary Supply.
