The three returning state qualifiers on this winter’s Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers varsity wrestling team were nearly unstoppable during the first half of this season. Senior Andrew Flora, last year’s Class 2A 113 pound state champion, has won the first 19 matches grappling at 126 pounds. He’s registered eight wins by fall, four decision wins, three wins by forfeits, two wins by technical fall, and two major decision victories. Senior Nolan Harsh, a three-time state qualifier, is undefeated in 17 matches this winter, including 15 at 182 pounds and a pair of grapples at 195 pounds. Thirteen of Harsh’s 17 victories came by pinfall, registering two decision wins and two wins by forfeit as well. Junior Kaden Sutton, a first-time state qualifier in 2018, won 18 of the first 19 matches of his third varsity wrestling season. Thirteen of Sutton’s 18 victories came by pinfall, adding two decision wins, two wins by forfeit, and one major decision win. Sutton’s lone loss of the winter came at the Grinnell Duals on December 8, losing by 7-5 sudden victory against Mount Pleasant’s Zach Beason. The ADM varsity wrestling team resumes their competition season on Saturday, January 5, competing in the Gary Christensen Invitational hosted by Winterset Community Schools.
