With 2019 officially begun, one business in Perry is preparing for big changes, as Heather Bruce is set to take over as Owner and President of Osmundson Manufacturing.

She succeeds her father, Doug Bruce, as Chairperson, and retiring President Jim Tibbles, both of whom have spent decades with the company. Doug says he’s unsure if there’s ever a perfect time to retire, but adds that the timing felt right for him to step aside and let the next generation have the reigns. He also emphasizes that Heather will have some help during the ownership transition. “Jim Tibbles and I are both going to be consultants for the new Owner and President Heather Bruce, at her need. Even though you take over a business, it takes some years of just having some meetings or going to visit customers and suppliers that we want to pass onto Heather, so she doesn’t have to learn the hard way like we did.”

Heather is the fifth generation of the Bruce family to run the company. Doug jokes that he knew she was going to take over the business when she was 8-years-old. However, she maintains it wasn’t until college that she got serious about her interest in succeeding her father as the head of Osmundson. The official last day for the elder Bruce will be January 31st, and to celebrate his new freedom he plans to travel the world with his wife, Mary. He also plans to spend a great deal of time with his six grandchildren.
