Adel City Council 8-14

The Adel City Council will convene Tuesday evening in regular session.

Their first meeting of 2019 will begin with an annual update on the City’s garbage services by Ankeny Sanitation. In new business, there are several items related to the vacant City Clerk position. First, the Council will hold the first reading of an ordinance to amend the clerk qualifications. Next, they will consider the appointment of the City’s current Accounting Clerk, Angela Leopard, to the City Clerk position. Leopard was the only internal applicant, and has been recommended by the personnel committee. If the appointment is approved, Leopard will then be sworn in by Mayor Jim Peters.

Other items on the agenda include: City sewer bill waivers and appeals for leaks; designation of official publications and depositories; approval of tax abatement applications for construction completed in 2018; a resolution ordering construction for phase one of the storm water project near North 15th Street, as well as fixing a date for a public hearing and bid opening; and supporting the Home Base Iowa Initiative. Additionally, the Council will consider the removal of a Planning and Zoning Commission member, an application for funding of trail projects, budget transfers, a pay request, and a pay increase for a part-time employee.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Council Chambers at Adel City Hall.
