The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

The Board took no action on three possible action items during the meeting. The County Compensation Board proposed a 5% salary increase for all elected county officials for the 2020 fiscal year. This was the same increase as what was proposed last year. The Board did not take action on the proposal. Then the Board didn’t act on a request for assistance in paying for cement work for the Veterans Memorial Wall. The contractor had asked that the bill be paid by this spring. This bill factors into the $12,000 total needed to complete the project to erect four walls with submitted veterans’ names. Finally, The Board didn’t act on a commitment to give funds for the 10% needed for the $3.8 million runway project at the Guthrie County Regional Airport. As part of the discussions, representatives for Guthrie Center and Panora said they are willing to support the project through a 28E agreement that proposes an $.08 increase per $1,000 of property valuation to city residents and a $.04 increase for unincorporated residents. Following the Supervisors’ inaction, the airport authority board members cautioned them that if they don’t act on the agreement this year, they could lose the 90% of federal funding for the project altogether.
