Greene County nipped South Hamilton (Jewell) in Monroe Thursday night before losing to Class 2A number one ranked PCM in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference wrestling. First year head coach Zach Beekman was without several regulars due mainly to illness and injury.

Sophomore Chance McCollum moved up a weight class to 120 lbs. and won by fall in the finale vs. SH and that victory lifted the Rams to a 42-39 win. Top ranked PCM rolled to a 69-12 decision over the Rams.

Other winners for the Rams vs. SH included freshman Brenner Gallagher (106) and junior Braden Gallagher (113) by forfeit, plus  junior Will Hansen (145), junior Colby Kafer (152), junior Joel Ward (160), and senior Bryce Hoyle (195), all winning by fall.

Braden Gallagher wrestled at 106 vs. PCM and won by fall and was the lone Ram to go 2-0 Thursday night. John Sprague won by fall at 120 vs. the Mustangs for his first career varsity win.

The Rams are 14-8 in dual meets overall and 3-2 in the conference. Those healthy enough to compete will go to Eldora tomorrow for the South Hamilton Invitational at 10 a.m.
