guthrie co arts council

Tickets are available for the Guthrie County Arts Council’s annual fundraiser.

The event will be a dinner concert on February 8th. The evening will begin with a wine and chocolate tasting at Art on State in Guthrie Center from 5-6 p.m. Dinner will then be served at 6 p.m. across the street at Cabbage Rose Restaurant. A musical performance from four-time Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Bob Fields will follow. Proceeds go to support the council’s mission which is to encourage the talents of the county’s artists by providing means to display and sell their work, as well as creating an atmosphere of appreciation for the arts with different programs.

This is the fifth year of the dinner fundraiser, and Arts Council Member Debbie Menning comments on the community’s ongoing support for local artists, “I think people in the area recognize the need for art not only just to enrich our lives, but art we’re finding out especially in the rural areas is significant for economic development. I mean it’s something unique and special to the area, something that brings people in, something that makes people want to stay here and maybe even make their homes here. It’s just vitally important and I think people are beginning to recognize that more and more all the time.”

Seating for the event is limited and tickets are on sale for $30 at Art on State in Guthrie Center.
