One of the shortcomings of the 2018-19 boys’ basketball team at Greene County High School is that the Rams are generally–short! That’s about to change as 6′ 9″ junior Tyler Miller is now eligible to play varsity basketball after transferring from Paton-Churdan. A verbal football recruit for the Iowa State Cyclones, Miller also plays basketball, and Head Coach Chris Nelson is anxious to add Miller’s size to what is otherwise a team generally void of height. “Having Tyler will certainly give us a post presence we haven’t had. Not only from a scoring and rebounding standpoint, but defensively his size will change how some teams attack us. We’ve not been able to stop teams driving the lane very well so far, so we’re hoping having him in the middle makes a difference.”

Miller has played some JV minutes, but his first varsity action is set for 3:30 p.m. on Saturday vs. Dallas Center-Grimes at Gilbert High School in game three of a four-game boys’ basketball showcase. The Rams are 5-9 and have lost six of their last seven games including a road loss on Tuesday at Nevada, 68-60. The Mustangs are 4-8 and are coming off a Tuesday night 43-42 victory vs. ADM. DC-G is a large Class 3A program and a member of the Little Hawkeye Conference which includes powerhouse teams such as Oskaloosa and Pella. The Rams are a 2A member of the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference.
