A home near Yale sustained considerable smoke and water damage Monday afternoon.

Perry Assistant Fire Chief Brian Eiteman tells Raccoon Valley Radio the Perry, Jamaica, Yale, Panora, Woodward and Bagley Fire departments, the Dallas County Sheriff’s office, Dallas County and Panora Emergency Medical Services,  responded to the residential fire at 19363 B Avenue around 3:45pm. He says the fire started in a heated dog house that was adjacent to the two-story home. The fire then spread to the home, which was contained to part of the first floor and the attic area.

Eiteman notes that the family members that were home at the time of the fire were able to get out safely and the dog was uninjured. He adds that no one was hurt. There was minimal fire damage to the home, but there was considerable smoke and water damage, making the home unlivable. Eiteman says they reached out to organizations that are helping the family with temporary housing at this time.

According to the Dallas County Assessor Real Estate webpage, the home is owned by Curtis and Mollie Clark.
