A Jefferson man turned himself into police and faces several charges following a domestic abuse incident.

According to the Jefferson Police Department, 43-year-old Shawn Annear went into the law enforcement center just before 9pm Monday claiming that he had heard police were looking for him. He told investigators that he had an altercation with his girlfriend at a residence in the 400 block of South Locust Street.

During the investigation, the officer found out that the altercation started as a verbal argument, but then turned physical. The report shows that the victim had visible injuries consistent with the report of the assault. The victim’s 2010 Chevrolet Impala was parked in front of the garage. Annear had gotten inside his 1996 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck and rammed the Impala into the garage door, pushing it through the overhead door and damaging the garage wall as well. The officer estimated that amount of damage to the garage between $8,000 to $10,000, the Impala around $8,000 and the truck around $2,000.

Annear was arrested and charged with a Class C Felony for first degree criminal mischief, a serious misdemeanor for domestic abuse assault, and simple misdemeanors for disorderly conduct and reckless driving. He was booked and remains in the Greene County Jail.
