Jefferson Police

A two vehicle crash resulted in non-life threatening injuries in Jefferson Tuesday evening.

The Jefferson Police Department, the Greene County Sheriff’s office, Greene County Ambulance and Jefferson Fire Department responded to the wreck at 5:42pm on Highway 30 near Grimmell Road. Police Chief Mark Clouse says Anthony Rice of Paton was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu westbound when he lost control as it spun across the centerline and struck the passenger side of an eastbound 2018 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Donna Wolterman of Jefferson. Rice’s vehicle ended up in the south ditch and Wolterman’s vehicle ended up on the south shoulder of the highway. Clouse points out the fire department used the Jaws of Life to extract both drivers from their vehicles.

Clouse says both drivers were taken to Greene County Medical Center by Greene County Ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the incident and both vehicles were considered to be total losses. Rice was cited for failure to maintain control.
