The Perry City Council convened Monday evening in regular session.

The first action item approved was a resolution adopting the Dallas County multi-jurisdictional local hazard mitigation plan, which is updated every five or six years. With new Dallas County Emergency Management Coordinator A.J. Seely on board, the participating jurisdictions felt now was a good time to re-adopt the official plan. Next, the Council approved the reappointment of four individuals to continue serving on three different City Boards. Following that, they set the 2019 community drop-off day for Saturday, June 1st, as well as the procedures for it. The City is also combining the spring clean-up day with the annual free appliance and scrap metal recycling event.

The Council then set the schedule for the 2019 yard waste disposal, which will run on Wednesdays from April 10th to December 11th. FInally, they approved a resolution to enter into a cost-share grant contract with the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. The funds will be used for water quality projects, and the City will receive $24,000 in grant funds in exchange for a $6,000 match.
