The ACGC girls track and field team has hung their hat in the early years of the program on primarily distance running and throwing. The squad will look to add more depth this season at some of the jumping disciplines, particularly in the high jump. Freshman standout Chloe Largent will compete in the high jump this year for the Chargers.

Head coach Colin Shawgo feels Largent’s athleticism will help her greatly despite this being her first year. “She’s improved so much from the beginning of the season to now. She’s got a lot of raw ability and a lot of raw athletic talent. She came into the season not really ever high jumping before. You can just see the leaps and bounds that she has taken to get better at the high jump. So I think she will honestly have a really good shot at getting to state in the high jump if she keeps working as hard as she is.”

Mady Smith was the lone high jumper last year for the gold and black, registering a top mark of 4.5 feet at the Audubon girls invitational in Audubon late last April. Largent is set to make her debut in the event at Greene County on Monday.
