The Perry City Council recently approved the schedule and procedures for the 2019 Community Drop-Off Day, and residents are encouraged to take advantage of it to clear their houses of unwanted items.

The event will be held on Saturday, June 1st from 8 a.m. – noon at Pattee Park. City Administrator Sven Peterson says the City used to go around from house to house for the spring cleaning assistance, but due to several factors they shifted to a single drop off location in 2018. He says that process will return this year, and it has also allowed them to expand it a bit. “Last year worked out really great, and we were able to get people through rather quickly and efficiently, and it was a great day. This year, what is going to be nice is we were able to schedule both that regular drop-off day with our appliance and scrap metal drop-off day. So people will be able to swing right down to Pattee Park, drop off their junk, and then cruise over to the next parking lot, drop off their appliances and their scrap metal for free.”

Peterson adds, residents can pay an extra fee to have crews come over to their house and pick up items. The fee schedule will be the same as it was last year, and information on the event will be sent out in the next water bills.
