2019 Greene County High School graduate Rachael Danielson was a three-time State Golf Tournament qualifier for the Rams. In her first semester at Central College in Pella, she became a National Tournament qualifier in NCAA DIII as the Dutch won the American Rivers Athletic Conference tournament in October. The reward is a trip in May to Houston, TX for the DIII National Tournament.

That’s not the only exciting trip for the Central College women’s golf team. “Instead of high school where you drive 45 minutes from your small town to another small town, you get to travel seven hours to Whistling Straights (Kohler, WI) and play a course where the Professionals play. It looks like you just got transported to Scotland where you get to see the sheep. Yes, they have a sheep hearder, a shepherd that takes care of the 10 sheep that graze the course. That course has phenomenal views. I loved it up there. We recently went to San Diego and got to play Torrey Pines, an absolutely jaw-dropping course. The views were amazing and we were hitting the same shots the pros were hitting just a month earlier. You can’t get much better than that.”

Danielson added the Dutch played on Coronado Island, off the Southern California coast. “We also visited a few Indian Reservations and tested out their courses and ranges.”

The team plays in Pella at the Bos Landen course on April 7-8 in the Battle of Bos Landen.
