The first severe thunderstorms of the year were felt overnight as two thunderstorms rolled through the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area.

The National Weather Service issued the first severe thunderstorm warning for western Guthrie County from 11:33pm until 12:15am. The second one was issued from 12:04 until 12:45am for Greene, Guthrie and Dallas counties. The hazards included in both storms were up to 60-miles-per-hour wind gusts, heavy rainfall and radar-indicated quarter-sized hail. However, there were no confirmed reports of hail in either storm.

There were no immediate reports of damage to the Greene County Dispatch and no weather-spotters were deployed during the storm. Four Raccoon Valley Radio staff members, Weatherology meterologists and Greene County law enforcement provided live severe weather action team coverage during the storms.

The one to count on for severe weather coverage is the Raccoon Valley Radio Network.
